World League, Leg One: Three Nations at Ashveil Links

The World League is a free campaign framework that sits above every tabletop sports game you own. Pick your nations, play short sessions of whatever happens to be on the table, and one season-long league builds itself across every sport at once.

This is me actually running one. Three nations - France, Germany and Scotland - and a different sport every leg. Leg one went to golf.

Ashveil Links

Four rounds, three golfers, one fictional links course. Played with Stretch by Stretch, the intermediate tier for Under Par, where the course is cut into six three-hole stretches and a round takes about four minutes.

Renn had the best of Thursday, a 68 in the calm, and led by one. Moreau matched it on Friday and that was more or less that. She led from the eighth hole of the second round and never gave it back. 278 for the week, five clear.

The story of it was Rae

The Scot is the longest man in the field and cannot chip, which Ashveil punishes twice coming home. A 75 on Saturday ended his tournament by four in the afternoon.

He then went out on Sunday with nothing whatever to play for and shot 68, the best round of the week. Nobody wanted to hear it in the clubhouse.

Running your own

The Stretch by Stretch pack is free. The course, a card each for the three golfers and a how-to-play, all cut-outs, so there is nothing to look up once they are on the table.

There is a sheet of optional traits in there too, twenty of them, and four of them actively make your golfer worse. And if you would rather not use my three, there are nation, name and type tables and some blank cards, so you can put your own field on the tee and play your own version of Ashveil.
