The Al Shaqab Goodwood Cup is the staying centrepiece of Glorious Goodwood. Group 1, two miles, second leg of the Stayers' Triple Crown.
Declarations came out Sunday and all eight ante-post runners stood their ground. So here is a Past the Post card for it, ready before they go to post.
One six-sided die and eight segments from the stalls to the line. Every runner is rated for Gate, Stay and Kick. Roll a die each segment, add the relevant rating, and the horse gains or loses ground. Highest total at The Line wins.
Scandinavia is odds-on and hard to argue with, a course and distance winner with three on the bounce. Trawlerman is eight years old and will not go away. Miss Alpilles is 100/1 and won one of the three races I ran testing it, which is dice for you.
Goodwood over two miles is sharp and downhill with a tight bend for home, so this card puts more weight on the early phases than the Ascot sheet did. You want to be handy here.
